News

Dear Randy,

I thought you might enjoy some good news.

For better or worse, I probably have had as much “seat time” in a catamaran as anyone in the world except maybe Johnny or yourself, Randy.

I don’t say this to brag, but rather to tell you that never ever have I run a boat as enjoyable, consistent (and if I’m getting old forgive me) and soft-landing as this one. Never ever.

Randy, I’ve run faster boats, lighter boats, different boats, whatever, and I’m not sure if it is the bottom (being used to 12 Skaters) or maybe you just got lucky with the center of gravity. I don’t know. What I do know is that I find myself constantly looking for rougher water, and no matter what I do I can’t seem to find anything that upsets this boat.

The next part is not your problem Randy, but the 6500 RPM rev-limiters are a real pain in the ass. They have obviously forced me to use bigger propellers, and for this reason I’ve given up a lot of “punch” down low and midrange, i.e., I can’t go “street racing” anymore.

Now that I’m sitting here writing this letter I just realized what I’m trying to say: Last Sunday, I let a friend drive while I sat in the left seat with Terry in the back and the baby – yes the baby at 2 1/2 years old – was sitting on my lap playing with the trim buttons at 120-125 miles per hour. When he got bored he started to kiss me. How cool is that??

Best of health,

Stuart Hayim
